Council presented Mr. Ramstad with a 10 Year of Service Award and thanked him for his hard work and dedication to the Lone Wolf Golf Course over the last 10 years, as well as for his commitment to growing the junior program and assistance with the transition of the Golf Course General Manager.The Golf Course General Manager also expressed appreciation to Mr. Ramstad for his dedication and commitment and presented him with the 10 Years of Service Award.

Peace Island Park Playground Project
Andrew Burrows, BC Peace Country River Rats
Mr. Burrows expressed appreciation to the District’s grant writer and staff for their assistance, and provided an update on efforts to obtain funding and donations to complete the Peace Island Park Playground Project.
Discussion ensued around grant application submissions and costs associated with project completion.Mr. Burrows advised that apporximately $50,000 is required to complete the project and requested that Council consider providing sponsorship to assist with project completion.

Discussion ensued around the Peace Island Park caretaker’s procedure for collection of payment for camping sites.It was noted that the BC Peace Country’s River Rat’s letter states that any camping units within the spaces outlined in the request will pay the camping rate to the caretakers prior to leaving the event.It was also noted that the procedure for patrons visiting Peace Island Park is that they are expected to stop and provide payment for camping sites prior to site use.Council requested that staff follow-up with the Peace Island Park caretakers to inquire about whether payment arrangements for camping sites have been made with the BC Peace Country River Rats.

Councillor Ponto and Councillor Turnbull provided an overview of the Northeast Native Advancing Society’s Awards Dinner and Fashion Show event that was attended on Thursday, February 27, 2020.
Mayor Fraser provided an overview of a Southern Mountain Caribou Snowmobile Advisory Committee Meeting that was recently attended and noted that topics of discussion included Terms of Reference development and the initial stages of determining permissible and prohibited access areas.
Mayor Fraser also provided an overview of a North Peace Leadership Meeting that was recently attended and noted that topics of discussion included the need for clarification surrounding Section 35 rights outlined in the Constitution Act.Mayor Fraser also provided an update on Land Resource Management Plan development and noted that further progress is required with the Treaty Land Entitlement process prior further discussions taking place related to a Land & Resource Management Plan.River Rats Poker Rally Results

When it comes the B.C. Peace Country River Rats and boating enthusiasts in the Peace Region, there’s no event quite like the annual Poker Rally. The 2018 River Rats Poker Rally is this weekend, July 13 and 14.
Starting on Friday at 7 p.m., members will gather together at the newly built pavilion in Peace Island Park to celebrate the new venue, and watch a movie. Pre-registration for Saturday’s poker ride will be available then.Trending Stories
Official registration is at 9 a.m. on July 14, and a free pancake breakfast will be available at the boat launch from 8 to 11 a.m. Boats will begin launching into the river at 10 a.m, when between 60 to 80 boats will ride to different stops collecting cards to build the best poker hand. Games will be held for kids at various stops as well.
“It’s all about the family, and we really want to make it fun for the kids. That’s why we keep getting so many people out to it year after year,” said River Rats President Jason Palfy.
There will also be a scavenger hunt for the kids and prizes afterward. Palfy said all watercraft are welcome, including jet skis and other boats besides speed boats.
A dinner will follow at 6 p.m. once everyone’s off the river, at the pavilion.River Rats Poker Rally Games
Jet Boat Racing
Several members of the River Rats were in the water last weekend at the Weaver Peace River Gold Cup Championship 2018 to begin the jet boat racing season. Gord Humphrey won the event with a total time of one hour, 24 minutes and 47 seconds, winning two of the four legs. He was 66 seconds faster than Rick Hollingworth, who finished second. Trapper Wolsey was 11th with a time of 1:53:59, while Clayton Wolsey finished in 15th place with a time of 1:57:02.River Rats Poker Rally Game

When it comes the B.C. Peace Country River Rats and boating enthusiasts in the Peace Region, there’s no event quite like the annual Poker Rally. The 2018 River Rats Poker Rally is this weekend, July 13 and 14.
Starting on Friday at 7 p.m., members will gather together at the newly built pavilion in Peace Island Park to celebrate the new venue, and watch a movie. Pre-registration for Saturday’s poker ride will be available then.Trending Stories
Official registration is at 9 a.m. on July 14, and a free pancake breakfast will be available at the boat launch from 8 to 11 a.m. Boats will begin launching into the river at 10 a.m, when between 60 to 80 boats will ride to different stops collecting cards to build the best poker hand. Games will be held for kids at various stops as well.
“It’s all about the family, and we really want to make it fun for the kids. That’s why we keep getting so many people out to it year after year,” said River Rats President Jason Palfy.
There will also be a scavenger hunt for the kids and prizes afterward. Palfy said all watercraft are welcome, including jet skis and other boats besides speed boats.
A dinner will follow at 6 p.m. once everyone’s off the river, at the pavilion.River Rats Poker Rally Games
Jet Boat Racing
Several members of the River Rats were in the water last weekend at the Weaver Peace River Gold Cup Championship 2018 to begin the jet boat racing season. Gord Humphrey won the event with a total time of one hour, 24 minutes and 47 seconds, winning two of the four legs. He was 66 seconds faster than Rick Hollingworth, who finished second. Trapper Wolsey was 11th with a time of 1:53:59, while Clayton Wolsey finished in 15th place with a time of 1:57:02.River Rats Poker Rally Game
